Progressive congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MO) shut down an interview after a reporter asked if she would like to see President Joe Biden run for a second term.

Mark Maxwell, political editor of the local St. Louis NBC affiliate posted a video clip of the interview on Twitter which showed Bush repeating several times in a row, "I don’t want to answer that question."

"Do you want to see Joe Biden run for a second term?" Maxwell asked Bush, after which one of Bush’s aides interrupted, saying, "She’s got to go."

Bush stammered, "I—you know."

Maxwell interjected, "It’s an easy question, you know, it’s not going to take long. Do you want to see Joe Biden run—"

The "Squad" member interrupted saying "I don’t want to answer that question because we have not—that’s not—yeah, I don’t want to answer that question," while shaking her head.

Maxwell responded "Okay," before Bush continued, "I mean, he’s the president, he has the right to run for a second term, absolutely but I don’t—I don’t wanna—I’d rather you not do that, answer the question."

Bush’s aide interrupted again, reminding the congresswoman that she had two minutes to get in a car to go to another event.

She then ended the interview and said, "I gotta get to the other thing."

Missouri Democratic State Senator Steve Roberts is challenging Bush in the state’s primary and responded to the interview by saying, "I support the president. Full stop. I’m curious to know who Rep. Bush intends on supporting."

Bush's fellow Squad member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), during an interview with CNN last month, also pivoted when asked a similar question about Biden. "First of all, I’m focused on winning this majority right now and preserving a majority this year in 2022. So we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. But I think if the president has a vision, then that’s something certainly we’re all willing to entertain and examine when the time comes."

According to a recent Quinnipiac poll, approximately 71 percent of Americans, as well as 54 percent of Democrats, would prefer to see a candidate other than Biden run as the Democratic nominee.

The Republican National Committee commented on the interview saying, "Nobody thinks Joe Biden is doing a good job."
