Jack Dorsey issues statement attempting to explain why they censored NY Post Biden bombshell

Twitter said that materials included in the NY Post article violated the Hacked Materials Policy, as Twitter "does not condone attempts to compromise or infiltrate computer systems for malicious purposes."

A thread of tweets from the Twitter Safety account attempted to clarify why the New York Post's bombshell report containing potentially incrimination information of presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

The censorship—which started with the censorship of tweets containing a link to the article and later expanded to blocking the New York Post from tweeting, as well as a slew of other right-wing personalities—was due to a violation of "personal and private information like email addresses and phone numbers," Twitter Support said.

Twitter Support also said that materials included in the articles violated the Hacked Materials Policy, as Twitter "does not condone attempts to compromise or infiltrate computer systems for malicious purposes."

"Commentary on or discussion about hacked materials, such as articles that cover them but do not include or link to the materials themselves, aren’t a violation of this policy. Our policy only covers links to or images of hacked material themselves," Twitter Support says.

"The policy, established in 2018, prohibits the use of our service to distribute content obtained without authorization. We don’t want to incentivize hacking by allowing Twitter to be used as distribution for possibly illegally obtained materials," they continue.

As pointed out by Federalist Senior Editor and author Mollie Hemingway, Twitter's reasoning don't hold up to standards the Big Tech juggernaut had set for itself in the past.

"Twitter amplified and distributed the New York Times' story based on what the paper itself claimed was surreptitious obtaining of Trump's tax forms. The Times refused to say who stole those forms and shared them with the paper. TWITTER is LYING," said Hemingway in a tweet.
