LGBTQ Nation, the number one LGBTQ news outlet, published another irresponsible and wildly inaccurate headline on Wednesday titled, "Right-wing media giants say LGBTQ bar patrons are responsible for their own murders." If you took a moment to scroll through recent conversations on rightwing twitter, you might be confused by this declaration, largely because it never happened.
The article states, "Tucker Carlson, Matt Walsh, Steven Crowder, and more all agree that mass shootings are a reasonable response to non-existent 'child genital mutilation'," and "Their claims continue a years-long campaign of stochastic terrorism in which they've accused queer people and their allies of grooming children for sexual abuse through LGBTQ school content and drag shows, and also of mutilating children's genitals through gender-affirming healthcare for transgender youth."
Matt Walsh, for example, is accused of discussing drag shows, "like the one held at Club Q on the night of the shooting," of being inappropriate for children. He even had the audacity to defend himself from "LGBTQ people's claims" that his "rhetoric encourages violence," noting correctly that it is "invented out of whole cloth." Pointing out the massive gap in logic in their argument, Walsh asked simply, "if the effort to have men crossdress in front of children is putting people's lives at risk, why are you still doing it? Is that important to you?" LGBTQ Nation translated this to, "According to Walsh, drag performers shouldn't exist because right-wingers who listen to him will just shoot up more clubs."
Next was Tucker Carlson, who LGBTQ Nation falsely claimed celebrated the "murder of gay politician Harvey Milk." Milk, had a public relationship with a 16 year old runaway, Jack Galen McKinley, when he was 33. LGBTQ Nation accused Carlson of mocking leftwing activists who blamed conservatives for the Club Q shooting. He said, "You are responsible for this, they told you, because you said the wrong things," Carlson told his viewers. "You are guilty of stochastic terrorism, inspiring violence by your beliefs. Anderson Lee Aldrich [the Club Q shooter] committed mass murder because you complained about the sexualizing of children. Every time you object to drag time story hour for fifth graders or point out that genital mutilation is being committed on minors — which it is — every time you say that, you are putting people's lives at risk."
Tim Pool was included for innocently tweeting that people shouldn't tolerate grooming children or violence and Steven Crowder was targeted for advocating stronger legislation to protect kids and to arm the population to protect kids and their families. The Serfs, who are quoted in the article, responded to this reasonable argument demanding, "The right are now openly justifying the slaughtering of LGBTQ+ people right after a tragic mass shooting. Years of lying and dehumanization have prepped their audience for violence."
Kurt Schlichter was clocked for correctly noting that society isn't required to tolerate pedophiles because "some asshole shot up a gay bar." He also pointed out that the people demanding we do so seem "happy to use any excuse to silence our opposition."
Jack Posobiec was included for asking, "Are we just not supposed to talk about the US Army Major taking his family down to the local drag club for a night out?" However, the outrage focused more on the responses from many of his followers rather than anything he said himself.
The left has jumped into the deep end of 'stochastic terrorism,' because it allows them to make these kinds of ridiculous accusations and feel morally superior about it. Posobiec asks a question, but some of his followers respond with homophobic remarks and then LGBTQ people are attacked! Its all connected! Carlson and Crowder and Walsh strongly oppose LGBTQ activism targeting children and then LGBTQ people are murdered! How can you deny the straight line of cause and effect?
Of course, it's only other people's offensive words that cause violence, not their own. They can't imagine that accusing public figures who hold opinions they disagree with or blaming murder victims for their own tragedy would ever cause harm or danger to those individuals or their families. They refuse to even consider the possibility their irrational and nearly exclusively false accusations could cause the same real-world harm they demand rightwing voices are causing. As usual, the left is aggressively engaging in the exact behavior they accuse the right of exploiting.
