MSNBC targets Kathy Barnette for peacefully attending Trump rally on Jan 6

"I feel about January 6 the way the left feels about the summer of 2020," Barnette told MSNBC.

MSNBC has set their targets on GOP Senate candidate for Pennsylvania, Kathy Barnette. Barnette, who is neck-and-neck with Trump-endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz, has been under scrutiny since her candidacy has gained popularity.

Barnette is a black woman from a poor background who was the child of rape. She is opposed to abortion, opposed to the war in Ukraine, and attended the January 6, 2021 rally at the Ellipse, and ensuing protest. In light of MSNBC's reporting, Barnette joked that perhaps MSNBC had not seen a photograph of her before they equated her with white supremacists.

While reporting from a campaign event for David McCormick, who has been pushed out of the lead by Oz and Barnette, an MSNBC reporter said that "over the weekend, at the same time as we learned of the news of Fetterman's stroke, we saw images circulating on social media of what are believed to be Kathy Barnette, at the Capitol on January 6."

"Now we knew from her statements in the past," the reporter continued, "that she did go to Washington on January 6. She organized buses to attend those events. But this is the first time that we have actually seen her in person there.

"NBC was able to verify that this was actually Barnette. She is seen marching toward the Capitol, alongside known members of the Proud Boys, in fact two of them were arrested and indicted on charges along, on allegations of their attendance and what they did at the Capitol that day."

MSNBC reported that they had spoken to Barnette about January 6 when they interviewed her just a few days back.

"I feel about January 6 the way the left feels about the summer of 2020," Barnette told MSNBC at the time. "When you had Black Lives Matter, and Antifa, and other groups out there looting and robbing, and everyone was calling it 'mostly peaceful protests' with buildings being burned down behind."

When MSNBC asked Barnette's campaign about January 6, they said "Kathy was in DC to support President Trump and demand election accountability. Any assertion that she participated in or supported the destruction of property is intentionally false. She has no connection whatsoever to the Proud Boys."

MSNBC lamented that none of this newly revealed information is "trickling down to the voters who are going to the polls" on Tuesday, saying that voters are instead focused on Barnette's policy positions on abortion and "not mega-rich," like Oz and McCormick.
