Several violent shootings happened in Portland on Friday as President Biden was on his way to the Oregon city to stump for Democrat candidates ahead of the November elections.

"There have been two shootings in #Portland while President Biden was en route to the city. A man died in the first shooting in the Lloyd Center area. #Antifa accounts are alerting their comrades to take advantage of police resources being tied up," Post Millennial Editor-at-Large Andy Ngo posted.

Local NBC News reports that the first shooting happened near Portland's Lloyd Center just before 4:30 pm. The circumstances are unclear as police arrived at Holladay Park on Northeast Holladay Street to find a person shot and bleeding out. The victim was taken to a hospital and died. No arrests were made and no suspects have been reported.

According to local ABC News, the second incident saw a police officer shoot a man allegedly wandering around downtown Portland and threatening people with a knife. The cop arrived at the intersection of Southwest 12th Avenue and Jefferson Street around 6:07 pm to encounter the man. The cop shot and wounded the knife-wielder who was then taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

A person dressed as a clown arrived at the police station after the officer involved shooting to protest the cop's intervention and prevention of the knife attack.

Portland crime has steadily been on the rise since 2020 in the wake of Antifa violence and the defund the police movement. 2021 saw 88 murders in Portland, up from 2020's 57. There have already been 72 homicides in Portland in 2022.

Local news reports that Biden was en route to the city during the incidents and later gave a speech around 8 pm at a Portland union office.
