New WHO team proposed for looking into COVID origin already has potential conflict of interest

Germany's representative Christian Drosten signed a February 2020 letter alongside EcoHealth Alliance's Peter Daszak disputing lab leak theory.

The new World Health Organization (WHO) group investigating the pandemic is called the Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens. They're actively avoiding the appearance of conflicts of interest this time around.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, the mission is already a bust if they allow Germany's Institute of Virology head, Christian Drosten, the chance to participate. "The names and brief biographies of the individuals selected for SAGO Membership are now disclosed for public notice and comment," the official group page says. Drosten's name is signed on the February 2020 Lancet letter organized by Peter Daszak of the EcoHealth Alliance.

The WHO put together this team to investigate the origins of COVID after the previous group seemingly lacked motivation. As outlined in an August 2021 investigation by The Sunday Times, Chinese scientists outnumbered the international community due to veto power by the CCP. Moreover, the tightly controlled nature of the team's expedition into China's Wuhan lab and other audit proposals by WHO were outright rejected by the country's leadership.

As seen in the list of twenty-six experts published by the World Health Organization, this time it's different. China's scientific representation is only one out of their twenty-five counterparts hailing from other parts of the world.

The New York Times talks about the new commission as if WHO is responsive to international feedback. "Especially in light of the politicization of this particular aspect, we want to take this back to the science, take this back to our mandate as an organization to bring together the world's best minds to outline what needs to be done," WHO COVID technical lead Maria Van Kerkhove told the outlet, heightening the concerns concerning Drosten. Much of the focus on China allowing inspections have been met with their deflection to look elsewhere.

It was Vanity Fair that broke the establishment media's silence. The role of Peter Daszak and his EcoHealth Alliance in organizing the Lancet letter disavowing the highlighted COVID lab leak. He orchestrated the message from the scientific community to the public. The letter framed talking about lab leaks as a vector of "rumors and misinformation" that crippled open data sharing.

Before the outstanding work by Vanity Fair and the Wall Street Journal, the question of COVID lab leak as the origin of the pandemic was treated as a conspiracy theory. But now we know not only the significance of Wuhan lab when it comes to studying coronavirus, but the public understands that a connection of funding links EcoHealth Alliance to Dr. Fauci and the NIAID.

In June 2021, The Lancet journal finally admitted to Peter Daszak having a conflict of interest, and they removed him entirely from the commissioner's page. As of now. Not even the "recused from Commission work on the origins of the pandemic" admission exists anymore.
