What is to be Portland’s first Shake Shack was hit by vandals before it even opened.

According to KGW8, someone broke a window in the brand-new restaurant but did not appear to get inside.

The new location on West Burnside across from Powell's Books is scheduled to open next Monday. According to police, the vandalism happened earlier this week.

Crime is so rampant in the city that on Monday REI announced it was closing its only Portland location after almost two decades in the Rose City after the store “had its highest number of break-ins and thefts in two decades, despite actions to provide extra security.”

In March, woke pizza chain Hotlips announced the closure of three of its five Portland stores.

Earlier that month, Cracker Barrel announced it was closing its only remaining locations in the city, following an announcement from Walmart that it was closing its Portland area locations due to a lack of profits. Many have speculated that the decisions were also based on rampant shoplifting.

Since Portland defunded its police department in 2020, homicides and 911 response times have spiked. The city surpassed 2021’s record of 92 homicides in 2022, which shattered the city’s previous record of 70 homicides in 1987.

Also in March, the union that represents Portland’s transit workers called out the far-left Multnomah County District Attorney for not prosecuting offenders after dozens of assaults on drivers.
