Amid woes of inflation and high food costs, the Wall Street Journal has suggested that perhaps Americans should skip breakfast to save money. Breakfast staples, they write, are showing massive price increases for a variety of reasons, so maybe just don't eat it.

Juices, eggs, coffee, wheat products are all at record high levels, the report states, so maybe just skip the whole thing, the Wall Street Journal suggested, perhaps taking a page from The Babylon Bee's book.

Pushback to the concept on Twitter was fierce and swift—which could have been part of the point of the WSJ's intent.

Senator John Kennedy was incredulous, remarking "Skipping meals to make ends meet? This is how badly Biden’s economy is beating down average Americans."

Congressman Dan Bishop lamented this as another example of "Biden's America."9odfscgiuyerwdrtfgdcxz

The Washington Examiner's Byron York said "Stop complaining about inflation -- just skip breakfast."

Financial guy Douglas Boneparth suggested that Americans could save even more money by skipping all meals.

If you skip breakfast, lunch and dinner you can save even more money.

Others suggested intermittent fasting.

"Egg prices increased 8.5% in January from a month earlier and are up 70.1% over the past year, the highest annual rate since 1973. The deadliest avian-influenza outbreak on record has devastated poultry flocks across the U.S., leading the price of eggs to rise more than any other grocery item in 2022, according to Information Resources Inc. U.S. egg inventories were 29% lower in the final week of December 2022 than at the beginning of 2022, according to the USDA," the Journal reports.
