Some have noted the phony French accents and tropes of the Canadian broadcasters are strangely foreign to Canadians all together, even hyperbolically.

The latest Saturday Night Live episode had a Canadian-themed sketch, satirizing Canadian news media and referencing Drake and CBC. The sketch has seemingly fallen flat with Canadians on social media.

“Bonjour — hi" is the title of the fictional French news program in the sketch, featuring guest host Issa Rae. Her character is meant to be a correspondent who has the sole objective of spotting Drake.

Others have noted the phony French accents and tropes of the Canadian broadcasters are strangely foreign to Canadians all together, even hyperbolically.

The sketch is available to watch only in the U.S., as SNL is seemingly exclusively available for American IP addresses online. The official sketch is viewable with a VPN, but there are some other versions available online for Canadian views.

“SNL” is back to airing episodes from Rockefeller Center in New York, after doing remote performances during the COVID-19 lockdown last season.
