A cabinet filibuster has now blocked disclosure of corporate sponsorship fees paid to the Trudeau family for its second week, according to Blacklock's Reporter.

The vote to release records has been delayed by Liberal MPs on the ethics committee. Those records hold details regarding thousands of dollars paid to the Trudeau family.

New Democrat MP Charlie Angus called the process of delaying the vote "ridiculous and completely out of order."

"The question of hiring the prime minister’s family to work corporate sponsorship events puts the prime minister in a pretty clear issue of conflict of interest," Angus said. "This debate may go on as long as the Liberals want to filibuster."

Over $750,000 in fees, trips, and gifts have been given to the Trudeau family, according to public records. Those payments, typically, are made in the form of $20,000 appearance fees. Payments of nearly half a million dollars were paid out by the WE Charity, which recently shut down its operations.

Liberal MPs say that the hearings themselves are for political theatre, with Chateauguay-Lacolle MP Brenda Shanahan calling them "for show."

Liberal MP Han Dong said she “[doesn't] want filibustering. But yet I’m still waiting to be convinced that this is the right thing to do.”

“It’s not for the government to use tricks to try and dodge accountability,” said Conservative MP Michael Barrett in response. “You have to take your lumps. If you play silly games, you win silly prizes.”

“We will get the answers,” Barrett continued. “We will see these documents. It’s a question of whether Liberal members on this committee are prepared not just to filibuster today, but to filibuster on Tuesday and on Wednesday and on Thursday and Friday.”
