On August 8, the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided former President Trump's Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago. In the days since, many have questioned whether such actions were justified.
Upon returning from a week-long hiatus Monday, FOX News' Tucker Carlson offered his thoughts on the raid, calling it "an attack on the rule of law" in America.
Carlson began by slamming the FBI for pushing their newest explanation for the raid, that the nation was in danger because Trump had stolen "ultra-secret nuclear secrets," without offering any specific details.
"Nobody even bothered to explain what these nuclear secrets might be," Carlson said, "and what did Trump plan to do with them?"
"There weren't a lot of facts floating around, there still aren't, but there's a reason for that. They couldn't tell you the whole story, they couldn't release all the documents, because that would 'jeopardize American national security,' so instead you're just gonna have to trust them."
Carlson went on to discuss the "endless huffing on television about the rule of law," by those who suggested, "absolutely no one is above that ... not even a former president."
He dismissed the outrage, citing the fact that the people calling for "rule of law," were the same people that "paid rioters to burn down our cities," eliminated bail and allowed illegal migrants to settle in the United States.
"If the Biden administration really believed that ... Donald Trump possessed documents that posed an imminent danger to American national security," Carlson continued, "then you have to wonder why'd they wait a year and a half to do anything about it?"
He suggested that the decision to wait so long could have been made in order to help Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections, which as he points out, they are slated to lose.
"Despite superficial appearances, the raid on Mar-a-Lago was not an act of law enforcement, it was the opposite of that; it was an attack on the rule of law."
Carlson decried the fact that the same week it was announced that Biden would be running for a second term, "the Biden Justice Department launched an armed raid against Biden's main rival in that same presidential election."
He concluded by suggesting that many Americans were turning a blind eye to events that, were they to happen in any other country, would be reacted to with outrage.
