Twitter founder Jack Dorsey followed Canadian Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre on Twitter Monday and the former CEO also retweeted Poilievre's video, in which he criticized inflation and explained the evolution of currency throughout society.
Poilievre's video has over two million views and has been shared by some of the most prominent economists and cryptocurrency figures.
Since founding Twitter, Dorsey has become one such figure who is deeply invested in promoting Cryptocurrency. Dorsey has also vocally expressed concern over inflation.
American Entrepreneur Michael J. Saylor also shared Poilievre's video alongside Dr. Saifedean Ammous, Author of The Bitcoin Standard.
Other notable figures include Anthony Pompliano, who tweeted: "Inflation distorts price signals and disproportionately rewards the wealthy over the poor. Kudos to Pierre Poilievre for having the courage to beat this drum in the face of undisciplined monetary and fiscal policy."
Pierre Poilievre is not only praised for his understanding of economics but is also widely liked by prominent cultural figures, such as Dr. Jordan B. Peterson. Peterson is not exactly a fan of the current Conservative Party. He invited CPC Leader Erin O'Toole on his podcast during the last campaign, only to be rejected by O'Toole.
Nonetheless, Peterson calls Poilievre a "Canadian politician who appears both courageous and articulate." His compliment is concerning yet another video featuring Poilievre debating an NDP MP. This clip has almost 200,000 views on YouTube, making Poilievre the single most popular MP on the entire platform.
Pierre Poilievre is snowballing towards the single most viral MP in Canadian history. He dominates on all social media, surpassing the leader of his own party.
The fact that Pierre Poilievre has effectively become a more powerful cultural voice than Erin O'Toole raises several questions about Poilievre's talent and O'Toole's digital stagnation. Obviously, being viral on the internet is not a direct measure of electoral success. However, it still matters when you're running against Justin Trudeau, who holds such a significant level of fame.
At this rate, Pierre Poilievre is quickly becoming the face of the opposition, leaving many of his new international followers wondering why he isn't leading his own party.
