According to the job listing, the chosen candidate "…will serve as a senior member of the agency’s Executive Leadership Team and provide direct oversight of various strategic initiatives with the goal of working to continue to reduce recidivism and improve the reentry of incarcerated adults," and earn $108,636 to $133,044 annually.
The list states that the ideal candidate would be "diligent and ambitious individual with lived experience as a former incarcerated individual."
In the role, the candidate will "…utilize sophisticated management principles and skills to foster both internal and external partnerships aimed at building and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders related to supervision and reentry."
The former convict would be "…responsible for contributing to the community and public safety, while ensuring the work environment reflects the stated values of the organization and exemplifies the highest standards of honesty, integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct."
The listing states that a "background check including criminal record history will be conducted prior to a new hire,” but claims that the "information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position."
Additionally, "the position may be allocated for telework" and "work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service."
The hire will be entitled to, up to 25 paid vacation days a year, 8 hours of paid sick leave per month, 12 paid holidays a year, a generous retirement plan, "Flex Spending Accounts," and "Dependent Care Assistance."
Candidates are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 according the Governor Jay Inslee’s mandate.
Candidates were also cautioned that "an aerosol pepper spray" will be "made available as a means of self-defense and/or de-escalation."
The Washington Department of Corrections came under increased scrutiny earlier this month when it was revealed that state Democrats were releasing Level-3 sex offenders called "the worst of the worst" by the federal government, including convicted pedophiles that are most likely to re-offend to be resettled into residential neighborhoods in halfway homes operated by a private company.
During the current legislative session in the pro-criminal state, a Washington Democratic lawmaker who is a former convict introduced legislation to start paying inmates for working prison jobs.
Corrections departments in the state are so short-staffed due to anti-law enforcement and anti-incarceration politicians cutting their funding and mandating the COVID vaccine that many counties refuse to accept custody of felons.
In 2021, Andre Taylor, the former pimp who was appointed Seattle's "Street Czar" by former-Mayor Jenny Durkan, lost his six-figure salary after failing to make an impact as crime spiked in the city.
