Washington to become sanctuary state for abortions, child sex changes

“The irony of this bill being coined the ‘shield law’ is not lost on us. You are not shielding children, you are shielding those who would abuse them. Gender-affirming care is a disgusting euphemism for child abuse.”

A so-called "shield law" that will turn Washington into a sanctuary state for abortions and gender-altering surgeries including for minors passed out of the state Senate on Monday and is expected to be signed into law by Democrat Governor Jay Inslee.

When signed it will go into effect immediately because the bill contains an emergency clause.

HB 1469 protects providers and patients in Washington from out-of-state lawsuits for providing abortions and gender-altering surgeries by prohibiting out-of-state subpoenas and criminal investigations seeking information related to the treatments and procedures.

It will also prohibit the governor from extraditing any person for out-of-state charges related to abortion and “gender-affirming” care and protect healthcare service providers for providing the services.

The new law will also restrict businesses from complying with records requests or subpoenas for information related to the provision or receipt of the services and authorizes the Attorney General to bring an action to enjoin any person from violating the act and to recover costs for such action.

Critics also warned of dire consequences including a spike in youth homelessness from runaways seeking care in Washington as Democrats in the Legislature are also expected to pass Senate Bill 5599 this week which allows minors to run away from home to receive "gender-affirming" care and "maternity services" without parental consent at Washington taxpayer expense.

The legislation sponsored by far-left Democratic state Senator Marko Liias would also allow shelters or host homes to provide housing for runaway minors without being required to notify their parents if they have a "compelling reason" to keep the information a secret.

The bill doesn’t require proof of abuse in the household nor even an allegation of abuse. As a result, merely seeking "protected health care services" is enough of a reason to keep the runaway’s location hidden from parents, clearing a path for children between the ages of 13 and 18 to stay at these facilities without their parent’s knowledge for an indefinite time while seeking services related to gender dysphoria and gender transitioning.

Democrats in the Legislature passed the bill despite over 4,700 people, 98 percent in opposition, testifying on the legislation.

Alex Chrostowski from Gays Against Groomers said that HB 1469 takes “extreme and aggressive steps” to override parental rights as well as other states’ rights and that combined with other related legislation would create “the perfect conditions for child sex trafficking.”

Chrostowski added that the legislation creates incentives for individuals to abuse provisions outlined in the bill to violate custody agreements. “The irony of this bill being coined the ‘shield law’ is not lost on us. You are not shielding children, you are shielding those who would abuse them. Gender-affirming care is a disgusting euphemism for child abuse.”

Several other related pieces of legislation are expected to pass the Democrat-controlled Legislature this year including HB 1155, which seeks to improve consumer health data privacy; HB 1340, which seeks to strengthen Uniform Disciplinary Act language for abortion or “gender-affirming care” providers; and SB 5242, which removes cost-sharing for abortions.

HB 1469 passed days after Washington announced that it had purchased a 3-year supply of mifepristone to enable residents to have access to medication that causes abortions.
