As part of Turning Point’s "Educate Don’t Mandate" tour, president and founder Charlie Kirk took questions from the audience during an event. According to the Turning Point website, the "Educate Don’t Mandate" tour is a "rally for freedom and fight against the influence of leftist school boards in their classrooms."
In a clip posted to Charlie Kirk’s Facebook page with the heading "Charlie Kirk takes on Radical Trans Activist," Kirk engages in a civil conversation from the event stage with a member of the audience, a male with long hair and fish-net fingerless gloves.
The audience member takes issue with the idea of "deadnaming," or calling a transgender person by their birth name, "It’s disrespectful to do that because she identifies as a woman."
"If I were to do a biography on Thomas and I would include that name," said Kirk referring to biological male Lia Thomas’ birth name, "How is that disrespectful?" The audience member capitulates that in that context, it would probably be okay.
Kirk redirects the conversation, "What we’re talking about tonight is how we structure society." He explains that when society is structured on a "vast minority of opinion” the only way arguments can be won are by "the person who wins the oppression Olympics."
"Instead of trying to remove everything that offends you in the world, I want you to dig deeper and become tougher than the people around you. That’s what we believe," said Kirk who was met with applause from the audience.
Charlie Kirk was banned from Twitter earlier this year in March when he misgendered Rachel Levine, assistant health secretary to the Biden Administration, when USA Today most absurdly nominated the biological male as Woman of the Year.
"Richard Levine," Kirk wrote, "spent 54 years of his life as a man. He had a wife and family. He 'transitioned' to being a woman in 2011, Joe Biden appointed Levine to be a 4-Star Admiral, and now USA Today has named 'Rachel' Levine as a 'Woman of the Year'[.] Where are the feminists??"
Twitter said that the tweet was in violation of the "rules against hateful conduct" and Kirk remained banned from the platform until he deleted the offending tweet.
