WATCH: Fauci says 'problem' is people don't want Covid vaccine

In December, Fauci changed the definition of "fully vaccinated" to include booster shots, claiming the Delta Variant shifted control of the pandemic which led to vaccinations becoming less preventative.

On a recent episode of Andrea Mitchell Reports on MSNBC, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Chief Medical Advisor to the President, Dr. Anthony Fauci said, "We have a problem of people wanting to get vaccinated."

"So what we need to do is we need to get people to appreciate the importance of not only getting vaccinated, but by keeping their boosters up to date because the data that showed the difference in severity of disease between the unvaccinated and the unvaccinated and vaccinated with boost is dramatically different," Fauci told Mitchell.

In December of last year, Fauci changed the definition of "fully vaccinated" to include booster shots, claiming the Delta Variant shifted control of the pandemic which led to vaccinations becoming less preventative, thus requiring the need for boosters.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Food and Drug Administration have claimed boosters are necessary as the Covid vaccines exhibit waning efficacy over time and against variants.

The CEO's for Moderna and Pfizer echoed the government's and Fauci's booster prescription in 2022 saying the public will need the boosters they manufacture "in the fall of '22 and forward."

Fauci has also pushed boosters on children and was confronted about the issue by Senator Rand Paul who said, "The government recommends a booster for children despite Fauci admittedly not having any evidence to support their decision." In one of many tete-a-tetes between the two, Fauci admitted there is no data supporting his proclamation, despite the certainty with which he declared it.

In December of 2020, Fauci admitted he was "guesstimating" the figures he was using for herd immunity, numbers which significantly impacted the country shutting down and has been aggressively inconsistent on masks while being very consistent on Covid never ending as a public crisis.

On Tuesday, Biden's Covid czar Dr. Ashish Jha backtracked on two years of failed guidance for the public and said social distancing was likely "not the right way" to think about Covid prevention. On Wednesday, director Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced that following an external report she ordered in April, she was calling for a "reset" to ensure that the CDC would be better able to assist Americans if and when the next pandemic takes place.

Mitchell said the "difference in the degree of illness" is the cause for booster urgency and Fauci agreed.
