On Thursday, President Biden welcomed French president Emmanuel Macron to the White House to discuss a number of issues impacting both nations.

While productive talks were held, it was once again Biden's odd behavior that stole the show.

The day began with an official welcome ceremony held outside the White House, with both Macron and Biden delivering speeches that were translated into both nations' official languages.

As Biden's remarks were being read out in French, he and Macron shook hands for forty seconds.

At one point, Macron attempted to pull away, but Biden held on, turning to face the crowd while his French counterpart continued looking in his direction.

Finally, when the French translation had finished, Biden terminated the handshake.

While they were up on stage looking out at reporters, Biden was caught on camera turning towards Macron and staring at him in silence for a solid five seconds before turning around to check something out behind him.

Macron noticed and reminded Biden that they were supposed to be looking forwards, at which point he turned around and followed the instructions.

After leaving the stage, Macron mingled with a crowd of people, but Biden nearly walked right past them. He had to be ushered in the right direction by Macron, who held his arm to ensure he knew where to stand.

The two world leaders then held a private meeting followed by a joint press conference, during which they discussed how European nations can participate in Biden's plan to fund green technology in the US, as well as the nations' response to the ongoing war in Ukraine. When the revolutionary protests in China were brought up, however, both leaders dodged the question.

The night was capped by a swanky dinner where both Biden and Macron delivered remarks praising each others' nations for their commitments to democracy.
