During her recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, actress Gina Carano described how she was persuaded to vote for the very first time in 2020, and the backlash she faced over her candidate of choice.

She also called out the media for their portrayal of the former president, suggesting that he never got a fair shake.

Carano began by telling Rogan that she had never told people who she voted for, and that prior to 2020 she hadn't really given the act of voting a chance.

"But when 2020 came around," she said, "I knew that after the devastations of what had happened with COVID and the lockdowns and all of that, I wanted to make sure we had a strong leader that was gonna be able to get this economy back."

Carano explained that she believed Trump would get people back to work, and thus restore a sense of pride in the millions who were feeling down and out.

After casting her first ever ballot, Carano says she avoided making any grand statements, and simply posted a picture of her hand with a small sticker that said "I voted."

Nonetheless, a "hate campaign" took shape, and she was soon trending on social media.

"I never was the person to run around with a red MAGA hat on," she said, "but I didn't like how they were being treated because they were passionate about who they were voting for."

"The problem," Rogan suggested, "is the way Trump behaves makes the people who oppose him feel like they're very justified in their anger, because he fights people."

Carano said she understood the argument that people preferred a "professional voice," but given the options in 2020, she made a "pragmatic" choice and voted for the president who had previously delivered three years with a booming economy.

"I would be a bit pissed off if I was him, too," she added, suggesting that Trump was not given a fair shake by the media.

"The CNN hoax, and the Russian hoax and all of that just on top of him, and they're just as guilty as Trump was, as dividing."

Rogan accused the media of playing a part in the "outrage economy," to which Carano replied that to stay on peoples' good sides, they'll have to "start reporting on real news."
