Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, who has a long history of anti-Semitic remarks, was heckled at a town hall on Thursday by an anti-war protestor over her support of the ongoing war in Ukraine, prompting her to denounce the man as a Russian propagandist
"You're supposed to be a progressive Democrat. Anti-War. Anti-War," the protester shouted, to which Omar said, "I am."
The heckler fired back with "80 billion to Ukraine is NOT anti-war!"
"We are helping Ukraine defend themselves," the progressive politician argued.
"Ukraine is killing its own citizens. In the Donbas!" the man shouted back.
Russia annexed several portions of the Donbas region of Ukraine in September.
Omar gave a reason for her support, saying, "We are helping little children like me," referencing the war in Somalia that her family fled from in the 80s.
"Unless you have not been paying attention to what is happening, there are millions of Ukrainians that have been displaced. There are piles of bodies that are being found in mass graves, there are little children whose lives are being lost," she claimed.
"By Zelensky! Yeah, by Zelensky in the Donbas!"
Omar replied, "Unless you are someone like me that has been that child, you do not get to tell me what my votes mean and how I get to vote!"
In Minnesota, as with all states in the union, voters elect representatives to Congress from their district who represent their values.
According to Fox News, Omar discounted the protestors as propagandists dispatched by Russia to deliberately disrupt her town hall.
"I am sorry, you all aren't 'anti war protesters,' you are dangerous propagandists who are literally making a mockery of the anti war movement," she wrote on Twitter.
Omar is not the only member of the squad to face criticism from anti-war protestors.
On October 12, New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was slammed at an event in the Bronx, New York by anti-war protestors demanding answers as to why she was also backing US involvement in the war in Ukraine.
"Congresswoman, none of this matters unless there's a nuclear war which you voted to send and weapons to Ukraine," one man shouted as Ocasio-Cortez attempted to field questions on drugs and immigration.
