WATCH: Matt Walsh explains human biology to confused trans activists

"You don't get your own pronouns. That's grammar. That's language."

Matt Walsh clashed with trans activists on a recent episode of the Dr. Phil show in a heated debate over gender identity that climaxed at the fundamentals of gender identity and what it means to be a woman.

"Can you tell me what a woman is?" Walsh asked the trans activists.

"No I can’t because it’s not for me to say," responded Ethan who identifies as non-binary transmasculine. "Womanhood looks different for everybody."

The other activist, Addison, then asked Walsh to define what a woman was. His immediate response boiled to someone being an adult human female with a specific set of reproductive organs. "When you’re female it goes right down to your bones, your DNA, so that’s why if someone dies we could dig up their bones a hundred years from now… we have no idea what they believed in their head but we could tell what sex they were because it’s ingrained in every fiber of their being."

Then Walsh wanted to ask Addison what their definition of woman was. "You stood up here and said, ‘trans women are women.’ Tell me what you mean. What is a woman?"

"Womanhood is something that, just as Ethan explained, that I can not define because I am not myself-" Addison begins to say.

"But you used the word, so what did you mean when you said ‘trans women are women,’ if you don’t know what it means?" Walsh presses harder.

"So here’s the thing. I do not define what a woman is, because I do not identify as a woman. Womanhood is something that is an umbrella term. It includes people who-" Addison continues

Walsh interjects: "That describes what?"

""People who identify as a woman." Addison states.

"That identify as what?" Walsh asks again. "As a woman," Addison repeats.

"What is that?"

"Well it’s to each their own. Each man, each woman, each person is going to have a different relation with their own gender identity and define it differently," Addison states. Walsh tries to say something again, but Addison keeps going this time.

"And so trans women are women too," Addison tells Matt Walsh. The audience claps at the part and that encourages the activist to go deeper.

"You want to reduce women, you want to reduce men, down to maybe just their genetics, our genitals, our chromosomes, right?" Addison adds.

"What you want to do is appropriate women, you want to appropriate womanhood, and basically turn it into a costume that can be worn," Walsh concludes.

A portion of the conversation had with the guests beforehand, pertained to how Walsh would react to his son choosing to say he’s a girl. Matt’s reaction to that as a father would be asking his child what he defines a girl to be. His answer was his boy might say he likes pink and playing with dolls.

"Play with the dollhouse. But you're still a boy," responded The Daily Wire host.

Earlier this month, Dr. Phil had critic James Lindsay on the program to discuss the topic of critical race theory. In that case he dealt with a panel of people who overall denied the claim that CRT was being taught in schools.

The Dr. Phil show discussion with Matt Walsh comes off of The Daily Wire host’s children’s book that debuted in November 2021. The success of "Johnny the Walrus" (an allegory about kids wanting to change their identity) caused outrage among progressives last year.

Lindsay strongly opposed the notion and cited a library of materials from the 20th century through the present era to back up his argument.
