Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) reported that she and other House Republicans were assaulted by a man blowing a whistle during a visit to a jail where January 6 defendants are currently being held.
In the clip that Greene posted to Twitter, a man wearing a COVID mask and dark sunglasses can be seen blowing a whistle into a woman’s ear. The woman appeared to be standing her ground, plugging her ears.
Greene posted: “We toured the DC Jail today and held a press conference outside the jail after our tour. This man assaulted everyone there by blowing a whistle as loud in as he could in other’s ears and tried multiple times to assault me and other members.”
“My staffer called 911 and reached an automated recording for several minutes before reaching a human. Reported the guy. She then asked the jail to send out an officer and they refused.”
Greene noted that this incident was “just another example out of a million others that the left does repeatedly without accountability.”
The Georgian representative and other House lawmakers paid a visit to the jail in Washington, DC on Friday after there were reports that the January 6 prisoners had been treated worse than other prisoners for their “politics and beliefs,” per Newsweek. The visit comes after Greene had visited the same jail in November 2021, when the January 6 prisoners had apparently revealed to her “evidence of abuse and neglect.”
Greene went on to suggest that she and other Republicans were singled out by protesters during a press conference that followed the jail visit on Friday. This is apparently when the man showed up with a whistle and decided to start blowing it while the Republicans were speaking.
The congresswoman reported that the man had launched a direct threat when someone off-camera got close to him, saying: “Don’t touch! Touch, you die!”
Filmmaker and author Mike Cernovich chimed in on the man blowing the whistle in the woman's ear, posting to Twitter: "This is a crime. I hope this woman reported the crime. This isn’t funny. I temporarily lost my hearing last year. What this thug is doing is criminal, not even up for debate."
The Post Millennial previously reported that on March 9, Republicans on the House Oversight Committee had requested “an inspection of the Department of Correctional facilities in DC” where those charged during January 6 were being held.
According to the request, “Eyewitness accounts of conditions at the DC Jail Facilities – particularly regarding the treatment of January 6 detainees – paint a picture of despair, hopelessness, and a severe abuse of justice. No prisoner in the United States should be treated in this fashion.”
