The woke brigade is entering the White House, and along with them is an ideology that puts race and identity first among qualifications for top government positions. They're not trying to hide it, instead they are touting it as their goal.
"What if the current lunacy turns out to be more than a passing phase? What if woke race obsession is not a fad but is an incurable brain virus that's infected our country's entire leadership class?
"If that's the case, then we're in trouble. Our grandchildren won't laugh about what's happening right now. In fact at this pace alot of Americans won't have children."
The incoming Biden team has used race and ethnicity as a qualifier not only for their vice presidential pick, but are using it to judge who should have Cabinet positions as well.
Leftist pundits don't talk about policy or plans when they discuss potential nominations and appointments, instead the only thing that matters is how the potential nominee identifies. Representatives from each racial group are trotted out on television to state their concern that someone who hails from their racial or ethnic group, or even from their specific subgroup (i.e. Latina) is represented.
Nothing is said about the person's views or policy plans, instead it is assumed that if the person looks right, and has the right identity, their views will match the assumptions that the pundits have for what people of that group belief.
In an attempt to be equitable and fair, the left has come up with the egalitarian idea that anyone from a given ethnic or racial group has the same views as everyone else in that group. The left doesn't see individuals, they see groups. It is demanded of the individuals within that group that they believe the same thing as everyone else in their group.
"My tribe! No mine, mine, mine!" Carlson said, quoting the intention of those calling for racial qualifications for Cabinet posts.
"This is what late stage identity politics looks like once you strip away all the euphemisms. Notice that there was no mention of qualifications or expertise or anything else that might help the country. Got the relevant background to say run the energy department? 'Who cares! You're the wrong color, no dice.'"
"This is the ugliest kind of race politics," Carlson said, "dividing up the spoils along color lines: 'If you want the job, you had better look like me.' How did a country as impressive as ours get to a place this low? As with all journeys is slowly and then all at once. But we've definitely arrived.
"To our leaders, identity is all that matters. That's official."
