In a post to his 2.5 million followers, the “Star Trek” alum tagged the Twitter CEO and wrote, “Thank you. I accept.”
The billionaire replied, “You will always be my captain.”
Last month, Shatner called out Musk, tagging the Twitter boss in a post griping about the paid plan writing, “What’s this about blue checks going away unless we pay Twitter? I’ve been here for 15 years giving my [time] & witty thoughts all for bupkis. Now you’re telling me that I have to pay for something you gave me for free? What is this – the Colombia Records & Tape Club?”
Musk replied “It’s more about treating everyone equally. There shouldn’t be a different standard for celebrities imo.”
As of April 1, 2023, only Twitter users who pay for Twitter Blue will have verified blue checkmarks. The service costs $8 per month via the web and $11 per month through in-app payment on iOS and Android.
Twitter also charges businesses and organizations $1,000/month to keep their verified status.
Musk has previously called Twitter’s earlier system of verification under the platform's previous ownership “corrupt and nonsensical.”
